The Ontario EHR platform enables clinicians to connect to various provincial integrations. Juno EMR users who are setup with Ontario EHR will gain access to both ClinicalConnect and the Digital Health Drug Repository (DHDR) if they have gone through the required setup steps with OntarioMD and OneID.

Have you completed the registration process and would now like to know what the next steps are? You are at the right place! This guide will walk Juno system administrators through the initial configuration steps required to fully enable the ClinicalConnect and DHDR integrations in Juno.

Step 1: Request the Integration

If you have not already, connect with our team by email and request for the integration to be enabled. You will not be able to access the configuration pages without this step.

Step 2: Configure your EHR Authorities

EHR Authorities are Health Information Custodian (HIC) or organizations that an EMR is authorized to act on behalf of. Authorities are assigned as part of the registration process. In this step, you must enter the authority-ies your clinic/staff has a relationship with.

To navigate to the configuration page, go to your administration panel by clicking on 'Admin' at the top of the screen.

  • If you are using a smaller screen, the ‘Admin’ option may be located under the ‘More’ menu. Click on ‘More’, then click on ‘Admin’ to open the administration panel.
  • If you are not using the Juno interface, start by navigating to it by clicking on the Juno logo at the top left of the screen.

To add a new authority to your EMR, locate the ‘Configure EHR Authorities’ section on the page and click on the ‘Create Authority’ button (identified with a 1 in the screenshot below). Type in the details (name and identifier) of the authority in the overlay before clicking the ‘Save’ button located towards the bottom left of the overlay.

To edit existing authorities, click the ‘Edit’ button, make the required changes then click on the ‘Save’ button towards the bottom left.

Once your authorities are saved in Juno EMR, assign them to your providers using the ‘Select Provider’ drop down (identified with ‘a’ above). The assignment section (b) will appear on the right in two columns: ‘Assigned Authorities’ and ‘Available Authorities’.

To assign an authority, select it from the right side and use the top button (the triangle pointing left) to move it over to the ‘Assigned Authorities’ column. To remove an authority, select it from the left and use the bottom button (triangle pointing right) to move it to the ‘Available Authorities’ column.

Click on the ‘Save’ button to save your changes.

Step 3: Configure your EHR Services

The EHR Services are the integrations available for your Juno EMR. At the time of writing this guide, Juno EMR integrates with the ClinicalConnect Viewer and DHDR both of which will already be available in your EMR.

As part of the configuration, you must assign the services to your providers. To do so, select your providers using the ‘Select Provider’ drop down (in screenshot above). The assignment section (b) will appear on the right in two columns: ‘Assigned Services’ and ‘Available Services’.

To assign a service, select it from the right side and use the top button (the triangle pointing left) to move it over to the ‘Assigned Services’ column. To remove a service, select it from the left and use the bottom button (triangle pointing right) to move it to the ‘Available Services’ column.

Click on the ‘Save’ button to save your changes.

Notes

Do not add services or edit the existing services without speaking with our team: services tied to other platforms are not available with Juno at this point, and changing the configuration of existing integrations will prevent you from accessing the platforms. Juno EMR will keep these updated on your behalf.

No actions are required to configure the EHR Viewlets. Just like with services, Juno EMR will keep the viewlets updated on your behalf. Do not create new viewlets or edit existing ones without first speaking with our team to prevent issues with your integration to EHR and its platforms.
