You have enrolled and submitted your annual registration code for the LFP Payment Model and wondering how to get started with submitting LFP claims? You are at the right place!

If you have not yet enrolled, consult our guide on the topic here: Enrolment and Annual Registration Code with OSCAR Billing.

Step 1: Update your MSP Billing Codes

This step must be performed by a system administrator once before anyone at your clinic can start creating LFP claims. To find how to update your billing codes, consult our Guide to the Manage Teleplan page in OSCAR Billing. Once this step is completed, the LFP codes will be available for use within your system.

Step 2: Add your MSP Facility Number to Juno

An MSP Facility number is required when submitting invoices for LFP. While you can manually add it to each invoice, you can save valuable time by configuring your EMR so the information is automatically included on invoices. The MSP facility number is the same piece of information used for the BCP. As such, use the same configuration method as when configuring BCP. You can find more information about it here: BC - Business Cost Premium & Juno.

Note: If you do not yet have an MSP facility number, you will first need to register your facility with MSP.

Step 3: Creating Claims

Time Claims

The follow three billing codes are considered 'Time Codes' and must be billed in blocks using 15 minutes increments:

  • 98010 LFP Direct Patient Care Time
  • 98011 LFP Indirect Patient Care Time
  • 98012 LFP Clinical Administration Time

When creating a time claim,

  1. Enter the appropriate billing code in the billing code section. This can be done by selecting the code from an existing billing form or typing the code in manually.
  2. Add the number of 15 minutes periods in the 'Unit' field.
  3. Add the block's start and end time using the 'Start' and 'End' time drop downs.
  4. Ensure your facility number is correctly included in the claim. If the information was not automatically populated, add it before saving the invoice.

When ready, save the invoice and submit it like a normal claim.

Patient Interaction Codes

The following billing codes are considered 'Patient Interaction Codes':

  • 98031 LFP In-person Interaction in a Clinic
  • 98032 LFP Virtual Interaction by Phone or Video
  • 98022 LFP Minor Procedure or Diagnostic Test Provided with an In-person Interaction
  • 98021 LFP In-Person Interaction with a Standard Procedure

  • 98033 LFP In-person Interaction in the Patient’s Home

Patient interaction codes are billed like regular fee for service codes for each individual patient interactions. To find out which code to bill in which situation, consult the LFP Payment Schedule.
